Cason-Cross House. Built in the 1850's by Gladstone pioneer, Fendel Cason, on his "donation land claim", the house is the oldest existing home in Gladstone and still stands at its original location bordered by Arlington Street, Berkley Street, and 82nd. Drive. (Zoned commercial, the house was formerly Cochran's Mortuary and is now occupied by Mr. Rooter.)

In 1882, Gladstone founder, Judge Harvey Cross, purchased the home from Cason. Over the years, a number of structural changes have taken place, most noticeably the front where the peaked portion (center) was either removed or entirely enclosed. The wide front porch and a covered side car park are later additions.   Photo courtesy Wilmer Gardner
